Just say something and mean it Don't say that you were surprised All I hear is misleading And you can't even apologize With my back up against the wall It gets worse before it gets better I might drown before I fall I'm not the first or the last To bring this up but I feel like We keep getting into the same fights But at the same time, we're doing fine We wish for more than we could ever handle Just look at how we're burning out the candles That we lit one day to symbolize being honest Without even thinking 'bout the healing process I'm older now than we were before I guess I fell through the right hole But I took my chances and changed my life With my back up against the wall It gets worse before it gets better I might drown before I fall I'm not the first or the last To bring this up but I feel like We keep getting into the same fights But at the same time, we're doing fine We wish for more than we could ever handle Just look at how we're burning out the candles That we lit one day to symbolize being honest Without even thinking 'bout the healing process I was born a summer kid but summers never last

How many times do I have to tell you You're never going to wake up Feeling happier than you make yourself And no one's going to judge you By the looks you can't hold back You're all filled up with pride And the things you're trying to hide But in rear-view I see the real you Don't pretend That everything around you Is falling apart Bury all the lies And don't forget to smile These are the days we should look forward to And make up for lost time We've come a long way since our dark days But that doesn't mean we've become naive We're living each day as it is Making promises we can keep And trying not to look back Among friends we stay away from regret We've got dirt in our eyes But not because we've cried We've just slept very well

Every once in a while We do our best to fulfill our dreams And every once in a while We fail to pursue the things that are real Even though times have changed We easily fall into patterns from our past We won’t forget how things were But it will surely put us back This time it's all for us We rise above what's done Getting our hopes back from those Who didn't think that we would make it Sometimes we fall behind But we get back on our feet as we're holding the ground Our hearts belong where the railroad changes tracks Forever is contagious so open your eyes, this is how we survive This time it's all for us We rise above what's done Getting our hopes back from those Who betrayed us ‘Cause we know, this is life This is where we live and die Among family, friends and haters Believers and so called saviors Everyday same mistake Putting ourselves in situations where Everything is black or white While the gray keeps heading for the light

Here I am, on my way To the other side No one gave me any directions But I'm sure I'll get there Without any help From anyone I was a punching bag Now I'm a loaded gun Forever and ever Don't waste my precious time You know I'm never gonna change Don't make me regret what made me come this far Painted walls and wooden floors Are there to make us feel like home To take for granted and guarantee That life is what it's supposed to be Forever and ever

Lying awake late at night Thinking about how things will turn out If it's ever going to be like back when time was on our side And we got nothing to hide Feelings take over and we can't settle down Even if we tried I heard you the first time This house doesn't make a home But I've been living off this dream for so long Wake up from your recent state 'Cause I just can't take it Makes me go insane Our problems won't go away today But next thing you know You'll be right back on your feet There's no point in trading heads for tails I'm just a guy trying to balance the scales Your recent reactions to recent events Are clearly getting out of hand Wake up from your recent state 'Cause I just can't take it Makes me go insane Our problems won't go away today But next thing you know You'll be right back on your feet I was thinking about the last time I felt your embrace The twisting and turning made me feel like things were out of place I heard you the first time This house doesn't make a home But I've been living off this goddamn dream for so fucking long

You can't lose if you don't play Says the man who's scared to look around But not everyone sees it that way It's the ignorance that puts us back No one ever writes letters anymore But there's still a world outside your door Life is what happens while you're waiting for moments that never come Life is what happens while you're holding onto things you're running from Are you anxious about how things will turn out Or do you sleep well at night The common dream is to walk away From every choice you'll have to make Every patch of ice you touch goes crystal And even if your feet are going numb You're feeling alive and that is the one thing That helps remembering where you're from But the bigger the lie, the more they believe Crawl, walk, run Life is what happens while you're waiting for moments that never come Life is what happens while you're holding onto things you're running from Give it all you've got and don't forget That the time you spend wondering what lies ahead Takes away everything you've built up for yourself Life is what happens while you're waiting for moments that never come And it has only begun Give it all you've got and don't forget That the time you spend wondering what lies ahead Takes away everything you've built up for yourself Life is what happens

I know it's hard to think there's something out there we don't know Nothing spiritual, just knowledge yet to grow But there are more important things to worry about Now since tables have been turned I'd step closer to the fire But I'm afraid I'll get burned Look up, I'm falling Into oblivion Trade up and realize How much is at stake tonight Even though the colors seem to fade I'm prepared to fall on your grenade I wasn't fascinated by pigeons But I fell in love with hawks I still believe in survival Maybe just not for us all Look up, I'm falling Into oblivion Trade up and realize How much is at stake tonight I never want to be too good at anything Because that would mean the risk of something permanent I choose satisfaction over success All social change comes from the passion of individuals The more we do the more we regret But the less we fight the less we forget For how long can we go on without being honest? For how long can we fool ourselves with pretended happiness? So much for foundation

Pinpointing every word I say Taking everything so serious You still think that laughing is okay Making fun of anyone who calls you their friend Assuming your ideas are great And other trails of thought are there to twist and turn Believing no one knows the way Repeating yourself, taking everything for granted What if the world turns around To leave you without answers Without the confidence you hold so dear Remember this Take this warning and try to think ahead 'Cause everything changes I know that this is what it takes To stand out in a crowd and feel accepted But what's it worth when the sympathy fades And no one no longer cares about your scandalous ways What if the world turns around To leave you without answers Without the confidence you hold so dear Remember this Take this warning and try to think ahead 'Cause everything changes We are all burned out And we are all trying to find a way back home But this doesn't mean That we can't be ourselves and change tracks as we go

Things get easier with time Somehow I turned out all right Still I see your face in dreams Smiling at me So I close my eyes And repeat this to myself Pick your fights No one's gonna Take your time Or pull you under Fade your frown Think of all the Things you've done To make your life a Better one There's so much you could do to make this go away But it's easier to complain Reality is unkind But I think I found my way Dragged through dirt Without being left behind Now that I'm back on my feet Here's a little thing I wrote for you I must be blind Not to see how I've been treated Barely touched the surface Never looked beneath it This is what you give me for being honest This is what I get from you No sleep, no friends, no nothing Everything that I am is up for assumption Go ahead, take all that I own Let's see what matters, let's see who walks alone

A new day but the story is the same You clear your head just to stay a head of the game To get some perspective on the things that matter You dream about it but it never happens Part ways with old patterns Start living out the new And focus on what's real Stop wasting time You gotta stand up tall And get on with your life There is no easy way To break out of a cage Don't get left behind Stop wasting time You gotta stand up tall And get on with your life Footprints fade in a different way Than how they usually say No matter how far you go The scars will always show You'll have to make it on your own Take a deep breath Inhale the change to come Part ways with old patterns Start living out the new And focus on what's real Stop wasting time You gotta stand up tall And get on with your life There is no easy way To break out of a cage Don't get left behind Stop wasting time You gotta stand up tall And get on with your life Stop wasting time Before you change your mind All hope is gone It’s time to wake up

I'm opening my window To breath in the fresh air How did it all come to this And as I'm walking out the front door I'm leaving every song behind That reminds me of you Getting over Is never the same thing as giving in When the lights go out I imagine myself reinventing the light bulb To cast the shadows further away And with all my heart I wish you would do the same I prefer to read 'Cause books don't run on batteries But it requires a flashlight When you're alone in the dark The songs we fall asleep to Are always the ones with strangest names You say; "What's the point in taking chances?" But I'm rather sorry than safe I imagine myself reinventing the light bulb To cast the shadows further away And with all my heart I wish you would do the same Here is where we all say goodbye to old habits Here is where we all say whoa oh
